(FREDERICTON, NB) A sister act came through for the UNB REDS on Saturday, in a 2-2 draw with the Acadia Axewomen on a sunny but chilly afternoon at UNB's BMO Centre.

Aurora and Allie Hughes-Goyette (Garibaldi Highlands, BC) scored late goals to lift the REDS from a 2-0 deficit.

Aurora, a second-year fullback, headed a crossing pass past Acadia keeper Milena Ramirez (New Minas, NS) in the 72nd minute.

Allie, a fourth-year striker, converted a penalty in the 86th minute.

"It feels awesome," said Aurora Hughes-Goyette, named Subway Player of the Game. "I'm so proud of us. I think we just had the magic today."

The Axewomen built their 2-0 lead on the strong play of Jayden Boudreau (Halifax, NS).

She opened the scoring, in the 18th minute.

After a hard shot from distance glanced off the crossbar, Boudreau found the rebound in the 18-yard box and fired the ball past REDS keeper Brynn Nash (Saskatoon, SK).

"I was just following the play," said Boudreau. "I was just in the right spot to pick up the ball. Those goals, tap ins, are big."

Five minutes later, Boudreau took a pass into the box, drew Nash across the face of the net and fired a shot back to the far corner to double Acadia's lead.

The Axewomen took that 2-0 lead to the halftime break.

In the 72nd minute, Aurora Hughes-Goyette headed a crossing pass past Acadia keeper Milena Ramirez (New Minas, NS) to make things interesting.

Then, after a hand ball call inside the Acadia box, Allie Hughes-Goyette scored on the ensuing penalty.

"We're bummed," said Boudreau. "Up 2-0 we didn't expect to let a goal in and get a PK, but things happen. We'll move on and be better."

"We would've loved the win, but we worked back from 2-0 and got back, so that's all that really matters right now," said Aurora Hughes-Goyette.

With the draw, the REDS are now 2-2-3 while the Axewomen are 4-2-1.

Acadia will host Mount Allison on Friday, October 14th at 5:00pm.

The REDS next action is Saturday, October 15th, at 1:00pm when they play host to Memorial.
