Bio
Taylor Maschmeyer joined the REDS' coaching staff on July 10th, 2024.
The Oromocto native and two-time Atlantic University Sport Most Sportsmanlike Player, Maschmeyer (then Taylor Dale) helped the STFX X-Women to AUS titles in 2013 and 2015 and a bronze medal at the 2013 U SPORTS championship tournament. She was named to the AUS All-Rookie team in 2013, and earned the league’s Most Sportsmanlike Player award in 2015 and 2016. She captained the X-Women during her final two seasons.
As a coach, she fashioned an impressive resume while leading the girls’ program at Oromocto High School, the 2024 Hornets of Champions Hockey, and Hockey New Brunswick’s 2023 U16 team. She also served as an assistant with various teams including HNB’s 2023 U18 Canada Games team. Maschmeyer has undertaken significant coaching training, earning certification in numerous areas, including high performance, safe sport, respect in sport, managing conflict, and ethical decisions.
“UNB was not an option for me when choosing schools as they only had the men’s program at that time,” she said. “X will always be a part of who I am, and I am forever grateful for the years I had there. To trade in my colors for the red, white and black is something I am honored to do. I understand the rivalry all too well as my husband played for STFX during the years I was there too. I’ll have to work on him to at the very least put away his pride and sport a REDS cap on game days.”
