REDS Suffer Weekend Losses
(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS suffered a pair of weekend losses, dropping a 2-1 shootout decision to the visiting Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues on Saturday afternoon after falling 3-1 to the St. Thomas Tommies, at Fredericton’s Grant-Harvey Centre, on Friday night.
On Saturday, Hillary Wood (Miramichi, NB) scored the lone goal for the REDS while Emily Gravelle (Callander, ON) netted the equalizer for les Aigles Bleues.
In the shootout, it was former RED Valérie Haché (Shippagan, NB) who earned the win for Moncton with the decisive goal.
The Aigles Bleus outshot the REDS 32-24.
In Friday’s loss at St. Thomas, Olivia Eustace (Riverview, NB) scored UNB’s lone goal while Hannah LeClair (Norboro, PE) made 27 saves on 30 shots.
Despite the losses, the REDS remain in second place in the AUS standings with a 17-5-1-1 (W-L-OTL-SOL). UNB is just one point back of league-leading STFX.
The REDS return to action Friday night when they play host to the Mount Allison Mounties. Game time is 7:00pm.
