(FREDERICTON, NB) The U SPORTS No. 6 ranked UNB REDS scored a 2-0 win over the visiting Dalhousie Tigers in Atlantic University Sport women's hockey action on Friday night.

Kendra Woodland (Kamloops, BC) made 26 saves for the shut-out and was named Subway Player of the Game.

The game was scoreless after the first period of play, but the REDS began the second on a roll.

REDS' captain Paige Grenier (Olds, AB), in her first game back after an extended absence due to injury, opened the scoring 2:47 into the second period.

Grenier's goal was assisted by Jenna MacLean (Wilcox, SK) and Jorja Nystrom (Leduc, AB).

UNB doubled the lead about three minutes later with a perfectly placed shot by Frederike Cyr (Candiac, QC), who beat Tigers' goalie Grace Beer (Oakville, ON) in the top left corner.

Despite being the period with the highest number of shots, 11 by the Tigers and 10 by the REDS, there was no scoring in the third period.

Cyr was named the game's second star while Dal's Olivia Eustace (Riverview, NB) earned third star.

The REDS, the AUS leaders with a 15-1-1-1 (W-L-OTL-SOL) record, will host the second place STFX X-Women on Saturday. Game time is 3:00pm.

The Tigers, now 8-7-1-2, will travel to Charlottetown to take on the UPEI Panthers on Saturday evening. That game is scheduled for a 7:00pm start.
