(SACKVILLE, NB) Tamina Kehler (Chilliwack, BC) scored a goal and assisted on two others and Kendra Woodland (Kamloops, BC) stopped all 13 shots she faced to lead the UNB REDS to a 5-0 win over the Mount Allison Mounties, in Sackville, on Saturday.

"We had a terrific effort from the whole team and were able to put together 60 minutes of REDS hockey," said REDS head coach Sarah Hilworth. "We had great chemistry from all our lines and were able to see some high-end plays."

Kehler's goal, the game winner, came at 6:44 of the first period.

Jenna MacLean (Wilcox, SK), Sydney Oitomen (Mississauga, ON), and Ashley Stratton (Mount Pearl, NL) scored in the second period to run the REDS lead to 4-0.

MacLean's goal was her first of the season, to go along with 14 assists.

"It felt pretty good," she said. "Monkey off the back. I've been waiting a long time for that one."

Frederike Cyr (Candiac, QC) rounded out the scoring in the third period.

Oitomen, Stratton and Cyr all had assists to go with their goals, for two-point afternoons.

Stratton was also 11-for-17 in the faceoff circle for UNB.

Kaitlyn Evelyn (Courtice, ON), who surrendered all five REDS goals, faced a total of 45 UNB shots in the lopsided affair.

"The girls were pretty fired up," said MacLean, of the win. "Five goals is big for us. We've been struggling to put the puck in the net, but we had a lot of chances and we capitalized on them, so it was big for us going into the rest of the second half and into playoffs."

With the win, UNB moves atop the Atlantic University Sport standings with a record of 13-3-0-2, good for 28 points.

"We're starting to see our team progress in the right direction," said Hilworth. "We're excited to take on Dal and X next weekend.

The Mounties, losers of 14 straight, are now 1-and-18, and sit last in the AUS.

Mount Allison's next action is Friday, when they host UPEI.

UNB returns to action the same night, playing host to the Dal Tigers. Game time is 7:00pm.
