Esposito Leaving Reds
(FREDERICTON, NB) After two seasons with UNB’s re-born women’s hockey program, Brittany Esposito is leaving the Reds.
A former professional player, Esposito served as an assistant coach with the Reds during UNB’s return to Atlantic University Sport play in the 2018-19 season, and again in 2019-20.
“I'm so grateful for my time with the Reds,” said Esposito. “I gained valuable work experience, but more importantly, had the opportunity to work with a delightful group and to help start a program that has a very bright future both on and off the ice.”
A native of Edmonton, Esposito is returning to Alberta to be closer to her family, but has no immediate plans on the hockey front.
“Although I'm not sure what is on the horizon career wise, I know I will always be involved in hockey, whether through work or volunteering.”
Working with head coach Sarah Hilworth and fellow assistant Pamela Pachal, Esposito helped guide the Reds to consecutive fourth place finishes and a pair of first-round playoff wins in the first two seasons of the new era of UNB women’s hockey.
“I’d like to thank Brittany for her time and effort in helping build our program,” said Hilworth. “I have known Brittany for a number of years. I was so excited to have her join us on this part of our journey. Wherever she lands, I know she’ll be a benefit to that organization.”
“I look forward to following the progress of this program, and can't wait to see what the staff and players will accomplish in their university careers and beyond,” said Esposito.
