(FREDERICTON, NB) Katryne Villeneuve (Casselman, ON) scored three goals to lead l'Universitè de Moncton Aigles Bleues in a 5-2 win over the UNB Reds on Saturday.

Moncton took advantage of a shaky looking Reds team, scoring three goals in the first period.

Gabrielle Saulnier (Memramcook, NB) opened the scoring at 8:47 of the first.

Emilie Lalancette (St. Andrews West, ON) made it 2-0 Moncton at 13:05 with a high shot that appeared to have been deflected and beat Reds starting netminder Hailey Martens (Ladysmith, BC) five-hole.

Villeneuve scored her first at 15:21 to give les Aigles Bleues a 3-0 lead they'd take to the first intermission.

A UNB goaltending change seemed to spark the Reds, who looked more composed in the second period.

The Reds began to claw their way back when Jennifer Bell (Miramichi, NB) went top shelf at 10:54 to make the score 3-1.

Great goalkeeping at both ends kept the second period close.

In the third, despite the Reds efforts and some equal play, Villeneuve managed to deke Reds goaltender Kendra Woodland (Kamloops, BC) and score her second at 12:56.

Bell scored her second goal, converting a Jenna Himer (Peace River, AB) pass with a hard one-timer, at 14:36, but Villeneuve scored into an empty net at 19:22 to complete her hat trick and seal with the win.

Villeneuve was named the Subway Player of the Game.

The Reds are now 4-3-3 while Moncton improves to 5-5-1.

Moncton's next action is Thursday, when they travel to Halifax to face Saint Mary's in a 7:30 face-off.

The Reds host St FX on Friday. Game time is 7:00pm.
