Reds Fall In Moncton

(MONCTON, NB) A goal by forward Katherine Villeneuve (Casselman, ON) at 1:02 of overtime lifted the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues to a 2-1 win over the UNB Reds, Saturday evening.

The loss marked the third overtime loss in four games to start the season for the Reds.

UNB opened the scoring when Jennifer Bell (Miramichi, NB) scored her second goal of the season, at 3:56 of the second period. Julia Spitzig (Kitchener, ON) drew an assist.

Isadora Quirion (Saint-Gegeon-du-Beauce, QC) evened the score at 10:02 of the second.

There was no scoring in the third period.

Mélika Florent (Rockland, ON) made 20 saves in the Moncton net, while Kendra Woodland (Kamloops, BC) stopped 26 for UNB.

Moncton was 0 for 3 on the power-play and UNB was 0 for 5.

The Reds go back on the road next Saturday, visiting Mount Allison before hosting UPEI on Sunday, Oct. 28th, at 3:00pm.
