(MONCTON, NB) In their first Atlantic University Sports pre-season game, the returning UNB Reds fell 2-1 to the Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleues.

Moncton scored early in both the first and second periods, including an opening period power-play goal, taking a 2-0 lead on UNB through 40 minutes.

Moncton outshot the Reds 30-13 in the first two periods.

Katherine Chadwick (Kanata, ON) put UNB on the scoreboard at 12:14 of the third period, but that was as close as they'd get.

Kendra Woodland (Kamloops, BC) turned aside 32 of 34 shots in the UNB net.

Moncton was 1-for-9 on the power-play, while UNB was 0-for-5.

The Reds will be in Charlottetown on Saturday to take on the UPEI Panthers. Game time is 2:00pm.
