Varsity Reds struggle with sickness, aches and pains at St FX Invitational
UNB is looking to regroup and rest up after a tough competition
The V-Reds travelled to Antigonish for the StFX Invitational this Thanksgiving weekend. This year StFX played host to both the AUS and the RSEQ conferences as the event was an interlock between the two conferences. Coach Jason Reindl said, “this event is a great test for athletes in both conferences. Presently Laval is ranked 8th in the country, McGill 9th, Dalhousie 11th, and UNB 14th. So a good tune up before conference championships.”
With more than 116 ladies taking part in the race from 12 teams it was by far the biggest and fastest that the V-Reds have been in all season. In the end though the results weren’t as positive as the team would have liked. The lady V-Reds ended up finishing 6th out of 12 teams with 194 points.
“This wasn’t the result that we wanted. Sickness, aches and pains, and a few other hiccups took their toll on us today. The good news it that Katie Robinson continues to improve running 1:20 faster than last year, and we still have some time before the conference championships,” added Reindl.
Katie Robinson led the team again by finishing 19th overall in a time of 23:00. Roya MacDonald was 41st in 24:26, Nathalie Cecire was 52nd in 25:22, Priya Bhutani was 56th in 25:34, and Courtney Barbour was the team's fifth finisher in 76th place and a time of 27:06.

“We will regroup. Take a few days and prepare ourselves for AUS. This team has been preparing all season for the conference championships. We still feel confident that we will be ready to run to our abilities when it counts the most,” said Reindl.
The V-Reds will take a week off from competition as they prepare for the Subway AUS Championships hosted by Saint Mary’s University in Halifax on Saturday October 25th. The women’s race will start at 12:00pm at Point Pleasant Park.
