Katie Robinson wins UdeM Invitational
Katie Robinson wins the women's race with a personal best time of 23:23
After taking a week off to put in some quality training the VREDS were excited to get back to racing and found themselves at the UdeM Invitational on Saturday October 4th. Six AUS teams (Dal, UNB, StFX, Acadia, UdeM, SMU) and a total of 55 athletes took part in the 6km race held on the UdeM campus.
UNB finished second in the team competition with 34 points. Dalhousie won the event with 22 and StFX rounded out the podium with 89. Acadia was fourth with 120, UdeM fifth with 138, and Saint Mary's was sixth with 148 points.
The highlight of the day, though, came early on as second year Katie Robinson, who attends UNBSJ, won the women's race with a time of 23:23. This beat her previous best on the same course by 17 seconds. She ran that last year at UdeM at the AUS Championships to finish in 8th place and won the conference's Rookie of the Year Award.
Captain Sarah Myatt was the team's second finisher placing 6th while first year Cailie McGuire was right behind her in 7th. Fellow first year Rachel Bennet finished in 10th place and Katie Wallace returned to form placing 12th and was the team's fifth finisher.
