(FREDERICTON, NB) Emily Vail has grown up in the red, white and black of the Sussex Regional High School Sonics.

So, donning a red, white and black Varsity Reds uniform should be easy.

The 6’2” middle has signed a CIS Letter of Intent to join UNB’s women’s volleyball team, beginning in the 2016-17 season.

“I am very excited about playing for the Varsity Reds next year,” said Vail.

Vail, a key contributor to Sussex and provincial teams in recent years, plans on pursuing an Engineering degree.

She’s led local club and high school teams, and been a part of U15, U16 and U17 provincial team programs.

“As one of our Elite Volleyball Training Centre athletes, we’ve seen Emily put in the hard work to get here,” said Varsity Reds head coach Jilliane Portelli. “We are excited to be adding her to the program, and to see where more hard work is going to get her in the coming years.”
