Robyn Anderson commits to UNB Volleyball

(FREDERICTON, N.B.) The UNB Varsity Reds women’s volleyball team is pleased to announce the addition of Robyn Anderson to the 2015-16 squad.

Anderson is a 6’0” middle from Jaffray, B.C., who brings three years of experience playing club volleyball with the East Kootenay Volleyball Club (EKVC), a team that competes throughout Alberta and British Columbia. Last year, she was a member of the team that won Division 2 Alberta Provincials.

Anderson played three years of high school volleyball with Mount Baker Secondary in Cranbrook, B.C., where she was named team MVP for the past two years as well as MVP for beach volleyball in 2015. She was also a member of the Reds Volleyball U18 Club in Fredericton, N.B., in the fall of 2014 under coaches Geoff Mabey and Luba Andrushchenko. The impression she made with the Reds caught the eye of UNB head coach Jilliane Portelli.

“Robyn came highly recommended after her experience playing in the Reds Club this past fall,” Portelli said. “She’s a great athlete with a lot of potential, and we’re excited to be adding her to the team.”

Portelli has been stacking her club with dynamic young players over the past two years, and Anderson looks to be no exception.

“I am excited to play at UNB,” Anderson said. “To take my volleyball to the next level and experience university-level volleyball.”
