V-Reds two big wins on the road - improve to 7-9
The Varsity Reds women's volleyball team completed their regular season with a couple of spectacular wins on the road this past weekend to finish third overall in Atlantic University Sport.
The V-Reds (5-9) travelled to Wolfville for their first of two weekend games against the Acadia Axewomen (4-10) on Saturday where they came up victorious with a 3-1 win.
Set scores were: 25-18, 13-25, 26-24 and 25-16.
Rebecca Glancy was the Subway Player of the Game for the Varsity Reds in the win with nine kills, two digs and two block assists.
Vanja Mitrovic had 10 kills; Celina Abba 8 blocks; Paige Nelmes 20 digs and Paige Paulson 3 service aces.
Continuing with their road trip UNB's (6-9) next stop was L'Université de Moncton (6-9) where they defeated Les Aigles Bleues 3-1 in a hard fought battle.
Set scores were 27-25, 30-28, 31-29, 24-19
Rebecca Glancy 23 kills, Paigne Nelmes 29 digs; Jacqueline Sebetovsky 4 blocks; Celine Abba and Vanja Mitrovic 2 service aces.
After the two weekend wins the V-Reds are now 7-9 and third overall heading into the AUS Championship which will be hosted in Halifax by Dalhousie University. Their first game will be against Acadia on Valentine's Day at 7:00 pm.
