Jilliane Goulet Head Coach of the UNB Women’s Volleyball Program is pleased to announce that Paige Nelmes will be joining the team for the upcoming season.

Born in Bristol, England, Nelmes is currently completing her studies at Loughborough College, Leicestershire, and is also a member of the National Volleyball Academy.  She was a member of the 2011 U18 National championship team and was named MVP at the 2012 U18 event where her team placed second overall.

Goulet met Nelmes while both were attending the tryouts for Team Great Britain in 2011. “I was impressed then by the control she showed in serve-receive and I’m thrilled to now be getting the opportunity to coach Paige and help her continue to develop the enormous amount of potential she’s demonstrated,” commented Goulet.

Nelmes also has a wealth of experience in beach volleyball as a member of the U18 National Beach champions in 2009, 2010 and 2011 while at the Youth Olympics held in Australia in 2008 her team finished in eighth place.

The stand-out athlete is also an outstanding student and has been offered several scholarships at US schools.  Goulet offered Nelmes the opportunity to play left-side while studying at UNB and is excited that she accepted adding, “Paige is a fantastic addition to our program.”

Playing volleyball since she was seven years old, the now 18 year old hopes to graduate with a Bachelor of Science from UNB says, “I am looking forward to developing my skills in Canada and growing strong along with the team.”
