Jilliane Goulet announced as Head Coach, Women's Volleyball

Fredericton, N.B. – Director of Athletics at the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, John Richard, announced today that Jilliane Goulet has been named as head coach of the women’s volleyball program. 
 
Goulet is a graduate of Dalhousie University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2005.  She is currently completing her NCCP Level 2 certification and is a CanFitPro certified trainer.
 
A former CIS athlete and member of the Dalhousie Tigers volleyball team for four years she was the 2002 AUS rookie of the year and was twice named AUS most valuable player.  She was also a four- time CIS academic all-Canadian and three- time CIS all-Canadian.
 
On the international stage she was a member of the 2004-2005 Canadian Volleyball Team and in 2005 she was a member of the Canadian Team attending the World University Games in Turkey. 
 
Born in Calgary, Goulet holds dual citizenship with Great Britain which has enabled her to be involved with the Great Britain national team from 2008 and is currently attending tryouts for the British Olympic Team that will compete at the 2012 London Olympic Games.  Goulet has played professionally in Europe five of the past six years.
 
“This is an exciting opportunity for UNB women’s volleyball to have a player/coach of this caliber join our program,” said UNB athletic director John Richard.
 
While Goulet has plenty of playing experience she been has also been an assistant coach with the University of Ottawa and has had a lead role at numerous volleyball camps and clinics throughout Canada.
 
“Jilliane is a young, dynamic individual with lots of experience and contacts across Canada and all over Europe that can only help our program in the future.  I am really looking forward to having her join our UNB coaching staff,” continued Richard.
 
Having recently taken a tour of the UNB campus and her future office – the volleyball court at the RJCC – Goulet is excited to begin work.The Currie Center is amazing, certainly better than most of the facilities I've played in!  I'm really looking forward to working in such a world-class environment.”
 
“I'm thrilled to be joining a program with such a strong history and every potential to reach higher standards within the AUS and CIS,” said Goulet.  “Having been a student-athlete in the AUS, I know what an incredible time of life it can be, and I aim to provide my athletes with successful and enriching experiences through their involvement with the team.”
 
Goulet will officially begin work for UNB starting May 14th on a long distance, part-time basis as she continues to seek a position on the GB Olympic team.  Depending on the outcome during the lead up to the Olympics will affect when Goulet will be working from her office in the Richard J. CURRIE CENTER.
