V-Reds Women's Volleyball Update #6

Last Week:

The Varsity Reds trained for two weeks in preparation for hosting Memorial Seahawks.   The Seahawks opened league play last weekend by splitting matches with Saint Mary’s in St. John's, NF.   The V-Reds were without 2009-10 AUS 1st Team All-Star Tanya Paulin (Bathurst, NB).   The 4th year middle left midway through the STFX match on October 24th and hasn’t practiced since.   Complications from her August surgery continue to be challenging forcing her to be out indefinitely.

Coach’s Comments:

“On Saturday our execution level was probably as low as it has been all season.   We believed and found a way to steal another five setter, but from a pure execution standpoint we weren’t very good against a pretty good experienced squad.   Sunday morning we passed quite a bit better which led to our side-out game improving as well as a drastically better hitting percentage.   It was a much better played match all around and I really thought we were able to run some middle offense for the first time in a few weeks.”

UNB Team Record:

Conference Play 3 – 1

Non-CIS Exhibition Play 1 – 0

CIS Exhibition Play 6 – 4

Playoff Results 0 – 0

Overall Record 10 – 5
