Split Squad Sets New Marks
The UNB Varsity Reds Track and Field team was in action last weekend.
The team split, with a group of runners, jumpers, and throwers in Moncton for the Jump Start Athletics Moncton Open. Another group was in Halifax, for the Athletics Nova Scotia Indoor Open.
In both Moncton and Halifax, a school record was set.
In Moncton, Tess McDonald extended her record in the triple jump from 11.20m to 11.25m.
In Halifax, Sydney MacDonald improved on her 60m hurdle record, taking it from 9.47s to 9.32s.
"We had some great results from our women's team this past weekend with two school records and a large number of personal bests," said Varsity Reds head coach Jason Reindl. "We definitely have some big things coming in the near future though and feel that McGill(next meet) will be a great meet for our team."

Next up for the VReds, the McGill Team Challenge in Montreal, hosted by McGill University. That takes place January 29th and 30th. The meet includes teams from Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada, making it one of the best meets for the team prior to the AUS Championships.
In AUS team rankings, UNB is currently ranked 3rd. Dalhousie leads with 244.5pts, St. FX is second, with 121.5pts and UNB with 48pts. The Varsity Reds are followed by U de Moncton, St. Thomas and Saint Mary's.
