On March 12th and 13th UNB's Sarah Myatt travelled to Windsor to compete at the CIS National Track and Field Championships.
As the lone female athlete from UNB to qualify and attend the championships, Myatt represented her teammates back in New Brunswick valiantly.
Running the 600m heats on Thursday the 12th, Myatt ran 1:34.92s. Unfortunately for the four time AUS champion in the event it would not be enough to make it through to the finals. Myatt would finish in 10th position overall.
As an added bonus of having won the AUS 1000m, Myatt was also able to compete in the 1000m at this meet. In a very fast race, she ran 3:01.01s which broke her own UNB school record and helped her finish 9th overall.
"I am very proud of Sarah. This was her first experience at the nationals and she ran great. The 600m was a tactical race and she made some very smart decisions. In the 1000m she ran a new personal best and school record. Sarah will no doubt continue to build off of this experience and race better than ever," said head coach Jason Reindl.
