Myatt races to top of the AUS pack at NB Indoor Championships
Sarah Myatt led the charge for the V-Reds, posting a blazing fast time in the 600m.
The V-Reds track and field team took part in their last competition before the 2015 Subway AUS Championships on Saturday, February 7, at the New Brunswick Indoor Championships.
Two school records were set on this day. The first was set by first year Sydney MacDonald who broke her own 60m record (8.10s) running 8.08s. MacDonald also competed in the 60m hurdles, long jump, shot, and the 4x200m relay.
The performance of the day went to the team's second record-breaker - Sarah Myatt in the 600m. With a goal of running a new personal best (1:35.17s) teammate Katie Robinson took care rabbiting duties for Myatt. Robinson brought Myatt through 300m in approximately 46 seconds and then it was all Myatt. She finished the race in 1:34.67s for a big personal best. This time presently ranks Myatt twelfth in the country. She currently leads the AUS in the 600m by over three seconds.
"We had a few great performances today, a few really good, and a whole lot of average," said UNB head coach Jason Reindl.
"We have three weeks now to finalize, tweak, and prepare for the conference championships but most importantly the athletes are healthy and looking forward to the end of the month."
