REDS Add Parsons
(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS women’s swimming team is adding freestyler Natalie Parsons to their recruiting class of 2024.
The 17-year-old, from Corner Brook, NL, has signed a U SPORTS Letter of Intent and will join the REDS ahead of the 2024-2025 Atlantic University Sport swimming season.
She’s finishing her Grade 12 year at Corner Brook Regional High School and is a veteran member of the Corner Brook Rapids Swim Club.
“Natalie is a strong swimmer who’ll bring considerable talent and experience to our group,” said REDS’ head coach Marta Belsh. “We’ll work with her to further develop her technical abilities and we should see improvements quickly.”
“I believe I’m a positive swimmer and I’m determined to reach my goals as well as helping others reach theirs,” said Parsons.
Parsons, a member of Newfoundland and Labrador’s team that competed at the 2022 Canada Summer Games, says working hard and becoming a faster, stronger swimmer are among her short-term goals. Longer term, she wants to qualify for the U SPORTS Championships.
“The positive, team-oriented atmosphere at UNB is what drew me to the REDS.”
Parsons will study Science while attending UNB.
