REDS 5th On Day 1 At Kemp-Fry
(HALIFAX, NS) The UNB REDS sit fourth in the men's standings and fifth in the women's competition after day one at the 2024 Kemp-Fry Invitational in Halifax, the third meet of the 2024 Atlantic University Sport swimming season.
The host Dalhousie Tigers lead in both categories.
For the most part, Friday's events were preliminaries, setting up fields for A and B finals on Saturday.
Blake Kingston led the UNB contingent, swimming fastest in prelims for the men's 50-metre breaststroke. Kingston's time of 29.16 seconds led a top five that was within 8/10ths of a second. That included the REDS' Ethan Nestoruk, who posted the fourth fastest qualifying time.
Leah Smal led the UNB women, qualifying third in the women's 50-metre backstroke. The top three qualifiers finished within 6/10ths of a second of each other.
In the men's 50-metre backstroke, UNB's Maxime Kenny was third while Emma Sinclair was sixth fastest in prelims for the women's 50-metre butterfly.
