REDS Finish Kemp-Fry Meet Strong

(HALIFAX, NS) UNB swimmers stepped onto the podium on the final day of competition at the Kemp-Fry Invitational, the third meet on the 2021-22 Atlantic University Sport swimming schedule, on Sunday.

The REDS' team of Susana Somerton, Nikki Connors, Isabelle Stewart and Alexie Sanford swam third in the women's 4 X 100-metre medley relay.

Nine REDS swimmers made 'A' finals on Sunday.

Sydney Bewsher was 6th in the women's 200-metre butterfly final, and swam to an 8th place finish in the 200-metre individual medley, just behind teammate Stewart.

Sophie Casey was 6th in the women's 200-metre breaststroke final and 7th in the 50-metre breaststroke, a race that saw third through seventh touch almost simultaneously.

In the women's 400-metre freestyle final, Sanford swam 8th.

Alex Ebbett recorded a 6th place finish in the men's 200-metre butterfly final, while Erik Staeben and Blake Kingston swam to 8th place finishes in the 50-metre butterfly and 200-metre breaststroke respectively.

The host Dalhousie Tigers captured top spot in both the women's and men's team standings.

The UNB women finished fourth, while the men were fifth.
