REDS Fall At Memorial

(ST. JOHN'S, NL) The Memorial Sea-Hawks were able to pull off a come-from-behind victory over the UNB REDS on Saturday, beating the visitors 3-1.

With the win, the Sea-Hawks are now 5-2-0, while the REDS fall to 1-4-2.

After a scoreless first half, the REDS stuck first, jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the 49th minute, on a goal by Heidi Lauwerjissen (Irishtown, PE). She was able to capitalize on a great pass by teammate Jesse Bellamy (St. Catharines, ON).

Sea-Hawks forward Holly O'Neill (St. John's, NL) would answer back with a goal in the 72nd minute.

Two minutes later O'Neill would add to her goal total, pushing the Sea-Hawks in front 2-1 in the 74th minute.

Memorial's come-back didn't stop there, as Zoe Rowe (Conception Bay South, NL) would score an insurance marker in the 78th minute to put the home team ahead 3-1.

Sea-Hawks goalkeeper Sydney Walsh (St. John's, NL) was solid when relied upon, stopping three shots on her way to her third victory of the season, while REDS keeper Brynn Nash (Saskatoon, SK) stopped six of nine shots directed her way.

O'Neill was name Subway Player of the Game. The Sea-Hawks forward was credited with a game-high six shots on goal.

The Sea-Hawks and REDS meet again Sunday. Kick-off is scheduled for 12:30pm Atlantic time.
