(HALIFAX, NS) The Saint Mary's Huskies scored late goals in each half to defeat the visiting UNB Reds 2-1 in Atlantic University Sport women's soccer action on Sunday afternoon.

Abby Sullivan (Orleans, Mass.), with an assist from Clarisse Ramirez (Ottawa, ON), opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a move off her left foot to her right and beat SMU keeper Kyanna Gilks (Halifax, NS) for the 1-0 lead.

SMU found the back of the net in the 40th minute, off a giveaway from UNB in a whacky sequence of events.

A SMU cross found the foot of midfielder and former Red Paige Vincent (Dartmouth, NS), whose shot was saved, off the crossbar, by UNB keeper Rebecca Duda (Halifax, NS). Anna Erikson (Invermere, BC) then tapped the loose ball into the Reds net.

Julia Dorey (Halifax, NS) scored in the 83rd minute, beating Duda just inside the box as UNB's defence was calling for an offside.

Gilks finished with nine saves for the Huskies, while Duda had five for UNB in the loss.

SMU improves to 4-4-1 with the win, while UNB falls to 2-7-1.

Both teams return to action next weekend when SMU hosts Moncton on Friday and UNB hosts Mount Allison on Saturday.
