(SYDNEY, NS) Rachel Leck (Pickering, ON) scored both goals for the Capers, as Cape Breton scored a 2-1 win over the UNB Reds.
Madison Goertz (Saskatoon, SK) responded for the Reds.
CBU keeper Rachel Yerxa (Mississauga, ON) made three saves for the victory, in the opening game for both teams.
Reds keeper Brynn Nash (Saskatoon, SK) faced ten shots, making eight saves.
Capers rookie Erin Freeman (Halifax, NS, had four of CBU's ten shots.
The Reds continue Atlantic University Sports' opening weekend in Antigonish, on Sunday. UNB and St FX kick off at 1:00pm.
