Fall 4-0 to CBU
(ANTIGONISH, NS) The top team in the conference was simply too much for the upstart UNB Varsity Reds.
After a dramatic quarter-final win on Thursday, the UNB Varsity Reds bowed out of the Subway Atlantic University Sport Women's Soccer Championship in a 4-0 loss to the Cape Breton University Capers.
The top-seeded Capers scored three times in the second half, including two goals just a minute apart, to pull away from UNB.
Tamara Brown(Whitby, ON) scored three of Cape Breton's goals and was named the Subway Player of the Game.
Varsity Reds' keeper Rebecca Duda(Halifax, NS) faced an incredible 21 shots, making 17 saves.
Her counterpart saw just four shots.
The season comes to an end for the Varsity Reds, who graduate six players, including fifth year seniors Ellen Arsenault(Summerside, PE), Nicola Small(Vancouver, BC), and Amanda Kenny(Fredericton, NB). Duda, Rachel Greechan(Fredericton, NB), and Sarah Moignard(Vancouver, BC) will also graduate.
