(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB Varsity Reds won their second game in as many days, beating the visiting Mount Allison Mounties 1-0.
MJ Miller(Hammonds Plains, NS) scored in the third minute to lead the Varsity Reds and was named the Subway Player of the Game.
"I was happy, because in yesterday's game I scored, but it didn't count, so it's my first official goal," said the first year midfielder.
With the win, UNB is now 2-4-3 and riding a two-game winning streak.
"We have a really good thing going on right now," said Miller. "We're all really pumped up, we feel that we can keep this winning streak going. It's good, it motivates us and keeps morale high."
Brynn Nash(Saskatoon, SK) made just one save in the UNB net to earn her first Atlantic University Sport win.
Claire West(Bedford, NS) stopped seven of the eight Varsity Reds shots she faced in the Mounties net.
"I feel like we definitely did better in the second half," said Mounties defender Maddison Hill(Fredericton, NB). "We didn't come out strong, we were a bit flat-footed. Maybe it was the bus ride, but we woke up in the second half and we competed."
Mount A is now 1-8-0 through nine games.
The Mounties travel to St FX on Saturday.
The Varsity Reds host Moncton, on Friday, for a 5:00pm start.
