(MONCTON, NB) The UNB Varsity Reds broke into the win column Saturday, in dramatic fashion.
Jelisa Joncas(Burlington, ON) scored in the 86th minute to lift UNB to a 2-1 win over the Universite de Moncton.
After a scoreless first half, les Aigles Bleues opened the scoring in the 49th minute.
UNB responded quickly. Abby Sullivan(Orleans, MASS) pulled the Varsity Reds even in the 55th minute, setting the table for Joncas' heroics.
Rebecca Duda(Halifax, NS) made 11 saves to earn the win in the UNB net.
Jesse Bellamy(St. Catherine's, ON) was named the Subway Player of the Game.
With the win, UNB is now 1-4-3 through eight games.
The Varsity Reds return home Sunday to face the Mount Allison Mounties. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00pm, at UNB's BMO Centre. Moncton's next action comes Friday, when they visit UNB for a 5:00pm start.
