(FREDERICTON, NB) The Cape Breton University Capers scored two first half goals, on route to a 3-0 win over the UNB Varsity Reds, at BMO Centre, in Fredericton, on Saturday afternoon.

Kennedy Curry(Coldbrook, NS) and Ciera Disipio(Ottawa, ON) scored in the first half, while Keona Simmonds(Brampton, ON) rounded out CBU's scoring, in the second half.

Curry's game winner came on a header, off a free kick, in the 8th minute.

"I saw it at the last second, there were some bodies in front of me," said Curry. "I just went for it. My eyes even shut on it and when I opened them, I just saw it hit the back of the net."

Lysianne Trottier(Barrie, ON) earned the clean sheet in the Capers net, stopping both shots she faced.

Despite the loss, the Varsity Reds were pleased with their effort.

"It's never nice to lose, but that's the best team in the league," said UNB midfielder Paige Vincent(Dartmouth, NS). "It's hard to compete with the best, and we know that we can do it. We just need to focus on fixing those small mistakes, fixing the little things."

The Capers were quick to loose balls and quick to any VRed that possessed the ball.

Vincent believes the CBU shut-out was a team effort.

"I think it's what they do all over the field," she said. "Their ability to close down spaces is unbelievable. They work hard. Every time you get the ball you know somebody is going to be right on you, or coming to you. You don't get time on the ball, which makes it hard to do anything with it."

The Capers have not allowed a goal since the Varsity Reds scored against them in the first game of the season, back on September 10th.

"I don't really know if we've ever had a streak this long," said Curry. "It's great. I think it's all of us just working together, having each other's backs."

For her efforts at both ends of the field, Curry was named the Subway Player of the Game.

The Capers travel to Moncton for a game on Sunday afternoon.

The Varsity Reds will be in Charlottetown on Sunday, to take on the Panthers.

Both games are scheduled to begin at 1:00PM.
