(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB Varsity Reds proved unstoppable against the Bishop's Gaiters, in women's exhibition soccer action, Sunday evening, at BMO Centre.

The Varsity Reds scored seven first half goals, on route to a 10-0 win over the Gaiters.

UNB took advantage long balls past Gaiters' defenders in their scoring barrage.

It began in the 20th minute, when Nicola Small opened the scoring, just as she did Saturday, against the University of Maine-Fort Kent.

The second goal of the game was scored of a decisive run down the right side and a crossing pass to Courtney Strba, who executed a well-timed finish.

UNB went up 3-0 in the 29th minute, when Hayley Gates headed a corner kick into the Bishop's net.

Strba would add two more and Small a second. Lauren Cubbon also scored in the Varsity Reds' big first half.

Strba's stellar evening continued in the second half, her fourth goal of the game coming on a big strike from just outside the 18-yard box.

UNB's ninth goal was delivered on a probing attack against the weakened Gaiters' defense, with Laura McNicholas on the finish.

Newcomer Danika Lefebvre rounded out the scoring, a just reward after numerous offensive runs throughout the game.

The Varsity Reds continue training camp Monday, after a pair of weekend exhibition wins.

They hope to carry their momentum into the regular season, and avenge their quarter final exit in last season's AUS Championship.

The Gaiters look to rebound when they take on Acadia, at BMO Centre, on Monday.
