REDS Win Again
(HALIFAX, NS) The defending Atlantic University Sport women's curling champion UNB REDS improved to 2-and-0 on Friday at the 2025 AUS Championships, at the Mayflower Curling Club, in Halifax.
The REDS scored a 10-3 six end win over the Mount Allison Mounties in their only match on day two of the competition.
"I thought we were in control of the play from beginning to end," said REDS' interim head coach Lorna Campbell. "It was another good win for us."
UNB jumped out to an early 5-0 lead, scoring three in the opening end and stealing two in the second.
When UNB scored three more in the sixth end, the Mounties were forced to concede.
"We stuck to our strategy and played our game and it worked well," said REDS' skip Jenna Campbell. "We had a great handle on the ice and we adjusted quickly to any changes. We have a big two-game day tomorrow (Saturday) with playoff implications, so we'll have to be well rested and ready."
The REDS are in second place in the five-team field, behind 3-and-0 STFX, and will conclude round robin play on Saturday.
The REDS and X-Women square off in a battle of unbeatens in the 9:00am draw. UNB will then face Dalhousie in the 2:00pm draw.
"Our strategy remains the same for our next few games," said Coach Campbell. "We'll focus on executing our shots and force the opponent into making some tough ones. We feel ready."
