(PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE, MB) The UNB Reds' perfect run in the round-robin portion of the U SPORTS Women's Curling Championship came to an end, Saturday night.

The Reds dropped an 8-4 decision to the University of Alberta Pandas, finishing the round-robin with a sparkling 6-1 record.

Saturday began with a 7-6 win over McMaster.

The Reds fell behind early in their first game of the day, giving up three points on steals in the first two ends, before rallying to draw even through four ends.

UNB scored twice in the tenth end to take the 7-6 win.

"As it's been for the last few games, it was a struggle at the start," said Reds skip Justine Comeau. "We were able to figure out our way, and made the right shots to come out and win this game."

In the evening game, the Reds struggled to score with the hammer, while Alberta to scored doubles and make steals.

The Reds conceded after the eighth end.

"We struggled, but the other team played amazingly," said Comeau. "I think each of them only missed one shot. We didn't really have any opportunities because of that. There were a few, and we weren't able to take advantage of them or capitalize on their mistakes."

The Reds and Alberta finish atop the round-robin standings with 6-1 records.

UNB will take on Queens in one semi-final, Sunday, while Alberta meets McMaster in the other.

The winners will play for the national championship, while the losers meet for the bronze medal.
