Part-two of the UNB Varsity Reds 2013-14 Stewart McKelvey Think Pink campaign, a part of the national Shoot for the Cure drive, will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (January 31-February 2) at the Richard J. CURRIE CENTER. On Friday and Saturday look for Pink in the Rink at the Aitken University Centre support for the "Cause".
"The Shoot for the Cure weekend is something all our student-athletes, coaches and staff look forward to every year," said Jeff Speedy, women's basketball head coach and Shoot for the Cure chair. "This is a special weekend in our Varsity Reds calendar which has been embraced by the Fredericton and university communities who help make it a huge success."
The Think Pink Weekend begins on Friday as the women's and men's basketball squads face off against the Acadia at 6:00 pm. and 8:00 pm while up the hill the hockey team takes on St FX at 7:00 p.m.
The action continues on Saturday; again with double header against Acadia as the women's basketball tips off at 1:00 pm and the men at 3:00 pm. The hockey team takes on Saint Mary's at the Aitken Centre at 7:00 pm while the volleyball teams are in action as the women take on the Dalhousie Tigers at 6:00 pm while the men host their male counterparts at 8:00 pm.
Action continues on Sunday with a pair of volleyball games. The men repeat with Dal at 1:00 pm while the women take on the Saint Mary's Huskies at 3:00 pm.
The basketball and volleyball teams will be wearing pink warm up shirts and the women's teams will wear pink uniforms. The women's basketball team will use a pink ball. Up at the rink the hockey team will be using pink tape and wearing pink socks and laces.
During the weekend, at both venues, fans will have the opportunity to purchase pink mittens, pink toques, Shoot for the Cure t-shirts, pink fudge and other specialty items in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
Raffle tickets will also be sold at the Currie Center for a slew of prizes, including two baskets full of donated pink items, a pink quilt; and two giant cookies with pink M & M's.
The V-Reds will also be selling 50/50 tickets at both men's and women's basketball games as well as the women's volleyball game. While at the AUC fans may support the "Cause" when the buckets are passed throughout the crowd and by purchasing "Pink" items on the concourse. Tickets for a V-Reds "previously worn" (Luke Gallant) red hockey jersey will be sold on Friday while on Saturday tickets for a Kingswood Child's Birthday Extravaganza will be available.

Rachel Cleary along with their assistant coach Leah Bowers. From the men's volleyball team is Chhase McFarlen and from the women's team are Meghan Carson and Baylee Stockford.
The soccer and swim teams will also be adding the money they raised to this weekend's efforts from their Think Pink event held in the fall.
