The UNB Varsity Reds women’s basketball program is pleased to announce the competing teams and schedule for the 2012 Accreon Helen Campbell Basketball Tournament.
 
This year’s edition of the tournament boasts a very strong field including the defending AUS Champion Acadia Axewomen and perennial Canada West power Alberta Pandas who finished with a 13-7 record at the end of regular season play.  Université du Québec à Montréal Les Citadins from the RSEQ conference rounds out the field of what will be a great pre-season tournament.
 
The opening game for 2012-2013 Varsity Reds women’s team with be Friday night September 28th vs UQAM at 6:00 pm.  The men’s team will play the 8:00 pm game also against UQAM as they open the Eric Garland Tournament being held in conjunction with the Accreon Helen Campbell women’s tourney. 
 
The September 28-30 weekend marks the UNB Associate Alumni Homecoming Weekend so the teams will expect to see a number of basketball alumni attending the games in the comfort of the Richard J. CURRIE CENTER. 
 
2012 will mark the second Accreon Helen Campbell and Eric Garland tournaments to be held at the “new” building and already coach Speedy is anxious to get going.
