2023 Schedule Released
(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS will get to run a home race as part of the 2023 Atlantic University Sport Cross Country schedule.
The REDS will host one of three AUS invitational meets, on Saturday, October 7th, the third race of the AUS season and one that could see a number of RSEQ team compete.
“Our teams are really looking forward to the fall season,” said Chris Belof, head coach of the REDS’ women’s and men’s cross country teams.
The AUS season opens on September 9th, at Acadia, with the first of the three invitationals.
Teams will be in Antigonish, for the STFX Invitational, on September 23rd, and in Fredericton two weeks later.
A venue for the UNB Invitational has yet to be confirmed.
The AUS events are eight kilometre races for both women and men, with the women’s races beginning at 12:00pm and the men scheduled for a 1:00pm start.
“The AUS schedule provides a very important competition plan for our season,” said Coach Belof. “Especially for our younger student-athletes, in preparation for the AUS and U SPORTS Championships.”
A select group of REDS will participate in the Western Invitational, in London, Ontario, the same weekend as the STFX Invitational.
The AUS Championships will be held in Halifax, on October 28th.
“We’re very excited that the AUS Championships will return to Halifax and look forward to that challenging competition,” said Coach Belof.
Western University will be the site of this year’s U SPORTS Championships, on November 11th.
