Luchese Named RSEQ All-Star
(FREDERICTON, NB) Veteran outside hitter Eduardo Luchese has been named an RSEQ men’s volleyball All-Star for the fourth time in his career.
Luchese, from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, was named to the conference’s 2024-2025 All-Star team after registering a league-high 243 kills during the REDS’ regular season campaign.
His 3.86 kills per set was third best in the conference and sixth best in all of U SPORTS.
“Eduardo had an excellent season for us and was certainly one of the dominant players in our conference,” said REDS’ head coach Dan McMorran. “His impact on our team was more than just statistics, as our players benefitted from his experience and leadership as well.”
The REDS finished the regular season with an 8-8 record, good for third place in the RSEQ.
UNB fell 2-1 to Laval in a best-of-three conference semi-final series.
Luchese also put up a conference-leading 281 points. His per-set-average of 4.46 was also third best in the league. Luchese was among the RSEQ’s top 12 in blocks per set, with 0.68.
Playing his fourth season of U SPORTS eligibility, Luchese was previously named a RSEQ All-Star in 2018-19, 2019-20, and 2021-22.
“It’s a well-deserved honour and the team is proud of his accomplishment,” said Coach McMorran.
