REDS Adding Swiss Hitter in '25
(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS men’s volleyball team is welcoming a heralded member of Switzerland’s national program to their recruiting class of 2025.
Right side hitter Moritz Möhring, from Aadorf, Switzerland, has signed a U SPORTS Letter of Intent and will join the REDS ahead of the 2025-2026 RSEQ season.
“We’re very excited to have Moritz join our program,” said REDS’ head coach Dan McMorran. “He’s a talented and hardworking outside hitter with great athleticism and physicality.”
The 6’4” Möhring has been a member of the Swiss national team at the U17, U19, and U20 levels, helping the U20 side to the second round of the European championship tournament and the U19 team to a title at Italy’s Cornacchia Cup, a tournament that draws teams from across Europe.
As a member of the Volley Amriswil club, he was part of a U23 national championship team.
“The feeling of the REDS being a family rather than a team has been a great contributor to my decision,” said Möhring. “I’ve heard of the great people and facilities, which will hopefully help me, and most importantly the REDS, in getting better every year.”
“He possesses a genuine love for the sport and is a strong ‘team-first’ type of player,” said Coach McMorran. “His experience, drive, and passion for the sport makes him an exciting addition to our roster.”
“I hope I can integrate well and bring some good results academically as well as in volleyball,” said Möhring. “My goal is to look back after my degree at all the accomplishments I was able to earn with the REDS and say that I did the best I could.”
Möhring will study Science while attending UNB.
