(MONTREAL, QC) With the RSEQ men's volleyball championships set to get underway, the conference is naming its student-athlete award winners and All-Star teams from this past season on Friday.

Rouge et Or attack Vicente Ignacio Parraguirre Villalobos was named Player of the Year for a fifth straight season. “Vicho” has been the league’s most valuable player over the course of his entire university career.

The Chilean’s relentless offence took opponents by storm once again this season. He led the RSEQ in kills per set played (4.74), kills (237) and offensive efficiency (44.8%).

Eduardo Luchese, finishing his first year as an outside hitter with the UNB Reds, is the RSEQ Rookie of the Year.

A native of Bento Goncalves, Brazil, Luchese came to UNB after a couple of successful seasons with Botafogo Volleyball Club, a team he helped to back-to-back Rio de Janeiro state championships.

A first-year Business Administration student, Luchese has provided solid and reliable play on the outside, dominating opponents blocks. He’s shown marked improvement over the course of the season, developing as one of the more efficient hitters in the country.

Laval Rouge et Or head coach Pascal Clement led his team to its 11th perfect season in team history, earning Coach of the Year honours.

The Rouge et Or lost only four of the 52 sets they played, on their way to a 16-0 record.
