UNB trumps Sherbrooke in three sets
Although they haven't been consistent in handling Sherbrooke in prior matches, the UNB men’s volleyball rocked Université de Sherbrooke in the third Interlock match hosted in Fredericton this weekend.

In the earlier matches Montreal defeated Memorial 3-1, while Laval dropped Dalhousie 3-0.

Although the Reds started off a little shaky during the beginning it didn’t stop them from bringing the power once they got going.

The first set saw the Reds give away a couple early points to Sherbrooke, but after McMorran called a timeout for the Reds, UNB picked it up.

Fernandez was a powerhouse on the court as he spiked, set and served some of his best plays so far this semester.

“His attack is at a level that’s, he’s one of the top left sides in the country right now,” said UNB head coach Dan McMorran.

John Sheehan became a brick wall as he denied Sherbrooke the chance to get the ball over the net.

The Varsity Reds would roll over Sherbrooke, winning the first set 25-21, the closest set of the match. Sherbrooke didn’t come out with the same energy by the second and third sets as they did the first, losing the second set 25-20, eventually losing to the Varsity Reds 25-15.

The Varsity Reds will take on Montreal tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. in the Richard J. Currie Center.

Laval will take on Memorial at 11 a.m. in the LB Gym, while Dalhousie takes on Sherbrooke at the same time in the Main Gym of the Richard J. Currie Center.
