Throughout the 2011-12 season UNB’s varsity athletes have assisted with several events for Right to Play and so the $1,500 from this year’s date auction was added to the other initiatives bringing the total of funds raised by the campus branch of the organization to just over $7,000.
Andrew Costa, president of the Varsity Reds athletes’ council believes that “Right to Play” is very deserving of support and a great fit for the V-Reds. “It’s a great organization. It gets young people involved in Third World countries and gives them a chance to grow leadership skills and become more involved as human beings,” commented Costa.
Right to Play’s mission is to improve the lives of children in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the world by using the power of sport and play for development, health and peace.
