Good Day For VReds At Gagetown
(OROMOCTO, NB) The 2015 New Brunswick Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Athletics New Brunswick, took place this past weekend at the field-house, at CFB Gagetown.
The men's team got off to a great start, in the 4 X 200m relay.
The team of Mike Whitcomb, Daniel Brown, Robert Tree and Braden Harrison ran just off their school record time of 1:31.73s, with a result of 1:31.76s. With a flat track conversion their time will improve and rank them 2nd in the AUS, behind Dalhousie and will be very close to a national top 10 ranking.
Liam Turgeon improved on his school record and personal best in the weight throw, with a best result of 14.76m. That moves him to 2nd in the AUS. Team mate, and last year's AUS champ, Luke Dillman also improved on his season best in the weight throw, improving to 14.59m.
Mike Whitcomb ran a personal best of 7.11s in the 60m. The result ranks him 5th in the AUS.
Daniel Brown improved his seasonal best in the 600m to 1:23.14s. The flat track conversion will move him up to a tie for first in the AUS.
"I am very pleased with how the team did," said Varsity Reds head coach Jason Reindl. "Any time we can compete at home and come out with school records and performances that move us up in the AUS and CIS rankings it is a good day."

Part of the team will travel to Halifax, this coming weekend, for the SMU Classic, on Saturday.
After, the team will begin final preparations for the Subway AUS Championships, in Moncton, February 27-28th.
