UNB Men Establish New Records At McGill Meet
(MONTREAL, QC) It was a good weekend for the UNB Varsity Reds men's track and field team.
Competing at the McGill Team Challenge, in Montreal, the Varsity Reds placed 8th of the 16 university teams in the event, recorded four new school records and saw a number of personal bests improved.
In the heptathlon, which is seven events over two days, Troy Wilson established a new UNB record of 3808 points.
The team of Mike Whitcomb, Daniel Brown, Robert Tree, and Braden Harrison ran a time of 1:31.73, which beats the previous record of 1:34.67.
"This meet is always a highlight for our team," said Varsity Reds head coach Jason Reindl. "We know that the track is fast and the fields are deep, which brings out the best in our squad."
Reindl says the McGill meet was a good test ahead of championship season. "I think we definitely achieved our goals for the weekend and now need to raise the performance level over the next four weeks heading into the AUS championships.
