Adam To Join REDS
(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS men’s swimming team is naming butterfly and individual medley specialist Alex Adam, of Calgary, to their recruiting class of 2025.
The 18-year-old, finishing his Grade 12 year at Calgary’s Bishop Carroll High School, has signed a U SPORTS Letter of Intent and will join the REDS ahead of the 2025-2026 Atlantic University Sport season.
“I liked the tight-knit community and camaraderie between teammates,” said Adam. “They all have a very hard-working attitude.”
“Alex’s positive attitude and high energy will be a great addition to our program,” said REDS’ head coach Marta Belsh. “He made a positive impact on our team during his recruiting visit.”
Adam is a veteran member of the Calgary Patriots swim club and is the three-time, consecutive, Alberta trials gold medalist in both the 100-metre butterfly and individual medley.
He currently holds a Top 10 ranking in Alberta’s 16-17 male age group and has participated in a number of Western National Championship events.
“I’m looking forward to having Alex join our group of butterfliers,” said Coach Belsh. “He’ll provide depth and a competitive edge.”
Adam says he’ll support the team in any way he can and says improving is his number one short-term goal.
“Improving the standard and quality of my training,” he said. “My long-term goal is to win an AUS gold medal.”
Adam will study Business Administration while attending UNB.
