REDS Men Finish 3rd At AUS Championships
(SAINT JOHN, NB) The Dalhousie Tigers emerged as the winner of both the women's and men's titles at the 2025 Atlantic University Sport Swimming Championships, presented by Bell, held at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre in Saint John.
The Tigers women amassed 983.5 points, beating Acadia by just 27 points in the overall standings. Meanwhile, the Dal men scored a total of 980 points, beating the Axemen by more than 80 points.
The host UNB REDS finished third in the men's standings and fourth on the women's side while Memorial was third in the women's standings and fourth on the men's side. Mount Allison finished fifth in both the women's and men's standings.
Sunday's final day of competition saw Dal swimmers win half of the dozen events on the schedule.
The Tigers began the evening with Mia Stein-Blumberg winning the women's 200-metre butterfly. Acadia's Nate Thompson won the men's 200 fly, as Dal's Isaac Bahler edged UNB's Craig Bush by 9/100ths of a second for the silver medal.
Acadia's Ella Collins won the women's 50-metre breaststroke ahead of teammate Chloe Popp. UNB's Blake Kingston established a new AUS record in winning the men's 50-metre breaststroke.
Emma Carrier-Clarke won the women's 100-metre freestyle for Dal, beating Acadia's Cassidy Karrel to the wall. In the men's 100 free, Memorial's Chris Weeks broke his own AUS record, winning in a time of 47.81.
Axewoman Sophie Rooney won the women's 200-metre backstroke, finishing just 9/10ths of a second ahead of Dal's Emilie Schofield. Her Tigers teammate Cole Mitchell won the men's 200 back, beating Memorial's Liam MacArthur and fellow Tiger Eli Pickup.
Dal's Ella Dobson swam to victory in the women's 800-metre freestyle in a time of 9:11.66 and Tiger Yannick Morgans won the men's 1500-metre freestyle in 15:56.23.
Acadia won the women's 4-by-100-metre medley relay, beating Dal and UNB, while the Tigers won the men's 4-by-100-metre medley relay, ahead of the host REDS and the Axemen.
Up next, for those swimmers that have qualified, the U SPORTS Championships, at the University of Toronto, March 6-8.
