REDS Add Addison
(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS men’s swimming team is naming Jack Addison to their recruiting class of 2024.
Born in Santa Cruz, California, Addison is completing his Grade 12 year at Fredericton High School.
He’s signed a U SPORTS Letter of Intent and will join the REDS ahead of the 2024-2025 Atlantic University Sport season.
The 18-year-old specializes in backstroke and middle-distance freestyle events.
A veteran member of the swim team at Fredericton High, Addison has qualified for the provincial high school championships the past three seasons.
He’s also a member of the Fredericton Aquanauts Swim Team and a member of Swim New Brunswick’s Next Gen program.
“Watching the REDS as I’ve been growing up, I knew this was where I wanted to swim after graduation,” said Addison. “I think UNB and the REDS offer a supportive environment where I can continue to achieve my swimming goals while working on a degree at a great university.”
“Jack is a competitor,” said REDS head coach Marta Belsh. “We’ve seen him develop extensively over the past couple of years with FAST and we’re looking forward to continuing that development with the REDS.”
In 2023, Addison was part of the New Brunswick team that competed at the North American Indigenous Games, in Nova Scotia.
“As a teammate, I can bring steady support on the pool deck and academically,” said Addison.
Addison says he’s setting his sights on growth, both as an athlete and a person, during his time with the REDS.
He’ll study Chemistry while attending UNB.
