(ST. JOHN'S, NL) The second day of the 2023 Subway Atlantic University Sport Championships saw the UNB REDS add to their medal haul as the Dalhousie Tigers built on their lead in the both the women's and men's standings.

In Saturday's first final, Dal's Regan Crowell took the women's 200m freestyle in a time of 2:03.64. Crowell was followed by UNB's Jennifer Moore, who won her second medal of the weekend.

"With this being my last AUS, I'm pleased with the success I'm having and the team is having," said Moore. "Every medal won by any member of the team is such an exciting moment and makes this last AUS, for me, more memorable."

"I don't consider the 200 free to be my best event," she added. "The fact that I was able to achieve a personal best time in this race and take a step on the podium gives me a lot to be proud of."

The REDS added two more medals in the men's 100m breaststroke final.

The race was won by Acadia's Gordon Shortt, but UNB's Blake Kingston and Ethan Nestoruk grabbed the silver and bronze medals respectively.

Kingston edged his teammate by less than 3/10ths of a second.

Like Moore, Nestoruk's medal was his second of the weekend.

"I think the growth we're seeing on the team is very exciting," said the first-year RED. "My races are all around the ballpart I was hoping they'd be in. I'm excited to get the feedback and learn from each one so next season I can improve."

In the men's 50m butterfly, Acadia's Shane Kenny raced to victory, while REDS veteran Ahmed Helal was fourth, missing the bronze medal by 15/100ths of a second.

"We had a really good second day," said REDS' head coach Marta Belsh. "Many personal best times in individual races and more swimmers moving into A finals. Jenn had personal best time. It was a great day."
