Manitoba Wingers Joining REDS
(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS men’s soccer team is introducing Manitoba wingers Jeremie Comeault-Klyne and Massimo De Luca as the latest members of their 2025 recruiting class.
Comeault-Klyne, from Ste. Anne, is completing his Grade 12 year at Lorette Collegiate, in the Winnipeg suburb of Lorette, while De Luca is finishing his Grade 12 year at Winnipeg’s St. Paul’s High School.
“Jeremie will bring great pace and directness to our attacking moments,” said REDS’ head coach Barry Morrison. “Massimo shows great ability on the ball, consistently being able to find quality passes and ways to get involved and contributing to attacking moments.”
The 17-year-old Comeault-Klyne is currently a member of the Elite and Excel Sports Management team where he’s been recognized as the club’s top playmaker twice.
He’s also been part of Winnipeg South End United and Sporting Club Mosaic teams and a member of the team at Lorette Collegiate, where he was team captain in 2024.
“I attended an ID clinic with the REDS and had a great time,” said Comeault-Klyne. “The REDS are a great team, and I like that Coach Morrison has experience and a good reputation.”
De Luca, also 17, has been a member of Lucania FC and Winnipeg South End United at the club level and the team at St. Paul’s at the high school level where he’s been part of two Manitoba High School Athletic Association championship teams.
“UNB’s strong athletic culture and history of success stood out to me right away,” said De Luca. “The program’s focus on excellence, both on and off the field, is exactly the environment I want to be part of. The coaching staff’s dedication to developing their student-athletes only pushes them to improve. I was also drawn to the close-knit community and the passion for all the REDS athletic programs.”
“Massimo brings great athleticism which will be key for him in playing in a very physically strong and fast AUS league,” said Coach Morrison. “He has the ability to contribute in all moments of the game and I look forward to working with him to find his best.”
“Jeremie will give us a great in-behind threat,” he added. “That will help us greatly in transition moments. Look for Jeremie to use his speed to create for himself.”
Comeault-Klyne has worked within the World Soccer Academy, training in Germany in 2023 and Bulgaria in 2024. He’ll be returning to Bulgaria later this year.
“I like to make runs in behind and take guys on one-versus-one,” he said. “I have a sense of reading plays on the field and try to position myself where I’m most valuable.”
“I always try to push my teammates to be their best and I hope they do the same,” said De Luca. “Leadership and communication are important to me, whether working hard in training, staying focused in tough moments, or supporting my teammates on and off the field.”
De Luca will enroll in UNB’s Faculty of Arts and study Law and Society while Comeault-Klyne will pursue a degree in Recreation and Sport Studies.
