(SAINT JOHN, NB) The UNB REDS scored a 1-0 victory over the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus on Saturday, at the Canada Games Stadium in Saint John.

The teams played through a quick-paced, but goal-less, first half.

Mid-way through the second, Tom Pheulpin (San Antonio, TX) put the REDS ahead, scoring in the 63rdminute.

"Tom is a great player and he's impactful," said REDS' striker Keji Adeniyi (Mansfield, UK). "As soon as he came on and scored the goal, we believed that we could do it."

Moncton would mount pressure in the late going, but Josh Doupe (Sarnia, ON) was aggressive in the UNB net, making a number of saves to preserve the win, the first of his Atlantic University Sport career.

"We just played our game honestly," said Adeniyi, named Subway Player of the Game. "We came in, tried to be fierce, obviously we were coming off a loss, in Moncton, so we wanted to turn that around."

Last Sunday, Moncton scored two late goals to beat UNB 2-0.

"It affected us a lot, I mean, our heads were down and we thought this isn't the team we are, so we just carried ourselves together and did the right things today and got the win," said Adeniyi.

With the win, the REDS are now 6-4-and-1, and continue to hold third place in the AUS standings.

Moncton falls to 4-5-and-1.

The REDS see their next action on Friday, when they host the Mount Allison Mounties, while the Aigles Bleus are St. John's to take on Memorial.
