(SYDNEY, NS) The number three seed UNB Varsity Reds upset the second seeded St.FX X-Men 1-0 in the semi-finals at the Subway Atlantic University Sport Championship, in Sydney, on Friday.

UNB's Matt Quigley(Conquerall Mills, NS) scored on a goal mouth scramble early in the second half to give the Varsity Reds the win.

V-Reds keeper Evan Barker(Winnipeg, MB) made numerous game saving blocks to preserve the victory.

Quigley's goal broke a scoreless game despite X controlling most of the possession.

Barker made a goal line save with 15 minutes to play, one of seven saves, earning the clean sheet. He was named the Subway Player of the Game.

Both teams fought a driving rain over the Cape Breton University turf.

With the win, the Varsity Reds earn a spot in Sunday's AUS championship game.

UNB also qualifies for the U SPORTS men's soccer championship tournament, at Thompson Rivers University, in Kamloops, BC. That begins next Thursday.

The Varsity Reds meet the top-seeded Cape Breton Capers in Sunday's AUS final. That game is scheduled to start at 2:00pm.
